Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Visits Grenada

At the invitation of the Grenadian government, Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi headed a delegation to visit Grenada from May 30 to June 1.

During the visit, Yang paid an official call on Grenadian Governor-General Daniel Williams and Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, and held talks with Grenadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Elvin Nimrod. Both sides reviewed their achievements since the resumption of diplomatic ties more than a year ago and exchanged in-depth views on issues of each other's concern, expressing willingness to make joint efforts to push for sound and steady development of bilateral relations. Deputy Foreign Minister Yang also signed the agreement on economic and technological cooperation and the agreement on cultural cooperation between both sides respectively with Grenadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Elvin Nimrod and Minister of Culture Ms Brenda Hood.

Foreign Minister Nimrod held a welcome lunch for Vice Foreign Minister Yang and his delegation. Yang also went to the construction site of Grenada's national stadium project assisted by China and called on Chinese aid personnel. Ambassador Qian Hongshan accompanied him throughout the whole journey.
