Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Meets with IOM Director-General Mckinley

On March 19, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with visiting IOM Director-General Brunson Mckinley.

 

Li hailed the establishment of the IOM liaison office in China and made positive comments on the cooperative ties between China and IOM. He appreciated the positive role IOM has played in assisting all countries to enhance capacity building for migration management, in protecting migrants' just rights and interests and in combating illegal migration activities, and hoped that IOM will continue to tap its advantages in resources and technology to play a bigger role in promoting international cooperation on migration issues.

 

Mckinley expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between IOM and China, emphasizing that IOM attaches importance to China's positive role in migration affairs and is ready to further conduct exchanges and cooperation with China.
