Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, there have been frequent cultural, educational and sports exchanges. In 1991, a Sino-Jamaican Cultural Agreement was signed during Jamaican Prime Minister Michael Manley's China visit. Chinese performance art troupes and sports teams visited Jamaica for performance or competition. In 1973, a Chinese journalists' group made a trip to Jamaica. In 1974 and 1976, a China Photo Exhibition and a Photo Exhibition featuring women and children in New China were held successively in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. In 1985, a China Culture Week was sponsored in Jamaica. In 1986, Mr. Mao Xiaolin and two other fellow researchers with Chinese Academy of Social Sciences visited Jamaica where they conducted academic exchanges with their counterparts with the Social and Economic Institute of the University of the West Indies. In 1988, China accepted a Jamaican student to pursue further studies in fabric printing and dyeing. Prior to this, three Jamaican students had come to China to study telecom engineering, stomatology and architecture. Currently, China offers 5 Jamaican students full Chinese Government Scholarship who are studying the Chinese language, traditional Chinese art, environmental engineering, construction, international finance, ect. at famous Chinese universities.

On November 19-21, 2000, Chinese Minister of Education Chen Zhili visited Jamaica and met with Governor-General Cooke, Acting Prime Minister Robertson and Education Minister Whiteman respectively. Madame Chen attended the ceremony of delivering 320 computers donated by the Chinese government to the Ministry of Education and Cultural of Jamaica.

From November 29 to December 3, 2002, President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Chen Haosu visited Jamaica. Jamaican Governor General Cooke met with Chen.

On August 15, 2003, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Zhao Zhenyu donated, on behalf of the Government of China, to the Government of Jamaica a set of multimedia teaching equipment on Chinese language.

In January 2004, General Administration of Sport of China offered a one-month training course in China to Jamaica's top-rated table tennis player Nigel Webb.

In July 2004, Yangzhou Puppet Theater, sent by the Ministry of Culture of China, visited Jamaica and gave 5 performances.

In November 2004, in accordance with the Letter of Exchange between the Government of China and the Government of Jamaica, General Administration of Sport of China dispatched two table tennis coaches to work in the Jamaican National Table Tennis Team.
